The play features an aging couple Ethel and Norman Thayer, who spend each summer on their lake home on Golden Pond. They are visited by daughter Chelsea, her fiancé and his son. The play explores the often turbulent relationship the Chelsea shared with her father growing up. It also explores the difficulties faced by a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage.
