"Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" is directed by B. Michael Quale with the aid of his assistant Laura Anderson.  It is the story of a disfunctional Southern family in constant crisis.  The story takes place during a single evening gathering at the Pollitt estate in Mississippi to celebrate the birthday of “Big Daddy” Pollitt (played by Steve Ricker).  Big Momma, (Kristi Marshall) the family doctor (Jim Ryen) and the rest of the family all conspire to keep Big Daddy unaware of the fact that he has cancer and will not live to see another birthday.  The entire family attends the party presenting themselves in the best possible light in an attempt to receive a share of Big Daddy’s sizable wealth.

The story focuses mainly on the rocky relationship of husband and wife, Maggie “The Cat” (Paula Swenson) and Brick Pollitt (Eric Pozgay) and the tense interaction with Brick’s family.  Defying all odds, Maggie has escaped a life of poverty by marrying into the wealthy Pollitt family, only to find herself in an unfulfilling marriage.  The indifferent and almost constantly intoxicated Brick, a one-time football hero, is tortured by the loss of his glory days as well as by the recent suicide of his best friend, Skipper.  He infuriates Maggie by ignoring all attempts to gain control of the family fortune by his brother Gooper (Steve Christensen).  Rounding out the cast are Liz Durham who plays Gooper’s wife Mae Pollitt and Gordon Anderson who plays the Reverend Tooker.
